more than 2,600kms from our last blog entry....
Dawson city was a lovely town - check out the photos and comments. we went to "Dimond Tooth Gerties" the first legal gambling hall in Canada, we played the slots and had a round of Black Jack - left pretty much even. Dawson city was the gold rush town in 1898 - they have kept the whole town as close to the way it was in the gold rush era. it's beautiful (but your boots get muddy cos the roads arnt paved, but they have the wooded side-walk.
we drove the Alaska Highway, originally built in 1942 by the U.S army to defend Alaska from the Japs. the Alaska Hwy was a bit of a boring drive until we got to norther British columbia, were we saw lots of wild animals and the scenery was amazing.
the Alska highway took us all the way to mile 0 - Dawson Creek - for everything in between check out he photos and comments.
from their we have come up through the Praries and Peace River Valley to Edmonton, we bought our boots in Grande Prarie and went to the worlds biggest Mall - West Edmonton Mall, yesterday. it has over 800 shops, an amusment park - with 3 indoor rollercosters!, sea-lions, hotel, replica pirate ship, 3 mini golf courses, paintball AND a massive indoor waterpark with 25 water slides and a huge wave pool. we spent most of the day in there!
so we are leaving Edmonton today...dont know were we are heading just going to drive! we are starting to look for jobs and a place to stop for a few weeks. jobs wont be hard to find at all everywere is looking for staff - which is good for us.
still having a great time, the van is going really well, and we are happy and healthy. sending lots of love to everyone xox Heather and Steven
