Wow Koh Phi Phi is a stunning island and I suppose it was what I had imagined Thailand to be. I was excited getting off the ferry.
We made our way to our accommodation to dump our bags, Ed and I both wanted to get out and about for a walk to see what the island had on offer. A 5 minute walk from our quiet beach took us into town past the 5000 Chinese tourist that had just arrived on several boats for a day trip.
Well talk about ying and yang!! The town was like club 18s to 30!! Party central!! Ed and I both decided that we would stay by our nice little beach that was quiet and didn't have any large statues of willies!!
What a shame that such a beautiful island has ended up like this. On our 2nd day we made our way to Long Beach as we had heard that the snorkelling off the coast was superb, unfortunately we didn't see any sharks however we saw some wonderful fish and it was great to go swimming without having to worry about jelly fish. After a couple of hours we noticed that the black clouds had started to roll in, packing our things up we started to make the 40 minute walk back hoping we would beat the rain.... How wrong we were!! We got drenched however we could have taken shelter in a resturant like the many other tourist... No we decided otherwise and walked all the way back, people were laughing at us as we looked like drowned rats. Ed and I laughed the whole way back. That night once the rain had stopped we went for a drink at "the drinking tree" it's a bar that has been built around.. Yes you guessed it, a tree on the beach and has about 6 seats. Everyone was really friendly so we stayed for a few changs. We only stayed on the island for a couple of days before making a quick escape to Khao Lak... Hoping for less 18-30's!!
