hi everyone, well aftreri recovered from my hangover on the booze cruise, i did a microlite over vic falls, that was really cool, bit scarey at first cause its just like a motorised hang glider, i had inprints in my palm from my nails from holding on-(didnt want to fall out), but once we were up i relaxed, and enjoyed the views. we said goodbye to half our friends from the truck, and we started again on a new truck with 5 new people and 3 from our last truck, aswell as a new guide and driver, its been really good, so far we went on little canoes into the okvango delta and bush camped, there was bloody mi8ce there a tnight! we got really close to a herd of elephants, and we did a few hikes inc 4hour hike, which was cool and any minute we could of stumbled on lions, leopard, buffalo, rhino but we didnt see any of them, the guide told us what to do, if a lion charged we have to stay still and look in their eyes, if we walk under a tree with a leopard, we have to keep walking and not look up, or it'll jump on our heads, for the rhino we have to run in zigzags and jump in a bush or climb a tree, and for elephant and buffalo we have to run at them, but none of us was scared walking around with just a guide up front and another guy at the back. we than went to etosha national park, and stayed in 2 camp sites there, they both had really cool watering holes, where at night you could go and sit and see what animals turn up to drink, all that seperated us was a a electric fence, that came up to our waists, it was more scarey than going for a hike amongst the animals, the first night only a jackel came to drink, but i saw 2 lions walking in the dark and we all could here them roaring, our campsite had jackels and mongoose roaming around, couldnt leave our flipflops outside the tent incase the jackels pinched them. the next day we went on a big game drive, saw some lioness and the usual animals, and stopped for lunch at another campisite which had a watering hole, so we sat there and watched zebra, springbok, antelope going for a drink. The best watering hole was at our 2nd campsite, it was incredible, i had just come out the shower when jo came bursting into the bathroom telling me to run, as there was a herd of at least 40 elephants inc babies and a rhino, so i just run with my stuff dumped it onto the truck and flew with my camera down to the watering hole, it was incredible never seen so many elephants, and a poor little rhino who wanted to drink, but the elephants kept chasing him off, it was also good because we had the sunset in the background and there was a bush fire in the distance, so there was all this orange glow! well we've finished our game drives now, never got to see leopard, but we went to a cheetah park, where the guy who runs it has3 domesticated ones, so we went to pat them, than he took us in the back of his truck, which was not very high or secure, through to where he has about 20 or so wild ones, so we in the truck, with cut up pieces of donkey to feed them with, soon as one piece was thrown, they all magically appeared form bushes where they were hiding, and were pacing up and down besides us, at one point we all got a fright, it was the last piece of meat left and one more cheetah to find, so when we found the cheetah, hayley bent down into the bin to reach for it, and the bloody cheetah jumped up at her, all of us kind of did a small scream, but she didnt know why, or believe us that the cheetah jumped at her, it nearly had her arm-bloody hell.
we are now in swakopmund, and oh my GOD! i did a skydive yesterday, in fact the whole truck inc the driver and guide did it. i was terrified, we got picked up at 2pm, and jo and i was the last 2 to jump which happened at 6pm, i went to the loo about 10 times, smoked about 10 cigs, and jo said as soon as i was put into the suit i just paled even my lips went white. i honestly didnt know if i'd be able to do it, my tandem master, kept huging me, and squeezing my arm, trying to distract me to look out the window, but i kept looking at the altitude, cause @ 10,000ft we were going out, both jo and i decided to get video and photos, so we both had an extra guy each to fly out with us to record it, and the camera guy for jo kept squeezing my leg, i wanted to go first, so at 10,000ft we shuffled to the door, and than we were gone, no waiting for a minute just hanging there, he knew he had to get me out straight away, i was so shocked, i didnt even scream, we tumbled out and the first thing i saw was how high we were, than we rolled over, and over, i had a fixed grin on my face the whole time in all the photos and video, i couldnt speak, the only time i made a noise was at 5000ft when he pulled the cord, than i squeaked. once the cord was pulled, i relaxed, it was cool just floating around, i even took over the pulls and steered us, he asked me how i was and all i could say was i needed a drink. jo got down before us, and when i landed everyone was cheering me, and came running over to hug me, they made bets onwhether i'd jump and whether i'd need a wee as soon as we laneded, well they lost both times. we went drinking that night, i went to bed at 2am, and i still had my stomach in my throat than, even now thinking about it, my stomach jumps!.
i havent got time now to put some of the photos on, but when i get to cape town, i will. better go.
