Hayley Jade and Laura's Travels
Hello everyone! we are off on the first leg of our 30hr trip to Vietnam tomorrow so thought it was high time for another postcard!
after the trip to the golden triangle (burma/thai/laos border) and getting harrassed by small begging children we went to see some \'interesting\' tribes.... the big ears... long necks and black teeth (ref pics)
the trip to Laos started on the ssssslllllloooooowwwwww lllllllooooonnnnnnngggg boat.... spanning 2 days. the boat resembled some kind of rowing boat, complete with engine and child throwing out water. stopped over in some random Laos place and got offered opium within the first minute! nice! and where electricity was switched off at 9:30!
Luang Prabang is a sleepy little hovel... where the barstaff manhandle you out at 10.30.... and shoo you off the streets.... note \"schnoop\" from the pictures... friend from journey home. (we have to stop taking pictures of random dogs!) Kayaked to a lovely waterfall in the piss wet rain, which hadn\'t stopped for days! (which we insisted in climbing and Laura losing her Birk\') then carried on for another 4, painstaking hours in the blistering heat that arrived from nowhere.... until our legs melted into the kayak, tarring the rest of the trip! (so well move on to Vang Vieng) Tubing down the river was the highlight... like a lazy river, but real! and bars where they drag you in on big sticks. Hayley got involved with the swings and ropes above the water, Jade and Laura watched on enviously nursing their wounded, blistered legs. Laura was physically incapable of manouvering a tube, and so had to be rescued from floating into the sea by random 4yr old Laos kids! \"KIDS....KIDS.....PULL ME IN!!!!... KIDS....KIDS!!\"
tried to do a good deed today, teaching Laos kids to speak English.... but we walked for a decade and couldnt find the school. Volunteering is such hard work!
Thats all for now, we\'ll prob leave another message after Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) which we are really looking forward to.
Lots of love from the infamous trio, the \'sunburnt girls\' (the whole place is talking about our bravery!)
