Hi everyone,
Wednesday - Great Ocean Road Day! Went to pick up the car at 9.00am from central Melbourne, we were given a maroon Toyota Corolla, who we called Alastair!
Lyd successfully drove us out of Melbourne and down to Geelong with the clouds following us all the way. The Great Ocean Road started 20km south of Geelong at Torquay and it spans 285km west Warnambool. Passed thru Torquay and stopped just south at Bells Beach, our new best picnic spot! Perfect views - exactly what we expected especially with the sun out!
A little further down we stopped at Point Addis, another beautiful spot with no-one else there. We all discovered timers on our cameras and what fun we could have taking pictures with Alastair!
Next stop was Anglesea - we headed to the golf course as the guide book said thats where roos hang out. And no lie, there they were, dozing on the fairway! Further down we stopped at Airey's Inlet for more views of the lighthouse. Then it started to rain so Rose drove us straight to Lorne.
Checked into Great Ocean Road backpackers YHA around 4.00pm, just after we checked in we saw our 1st wild koala. He ran(!) across the path and up a tree right next to reception. Absolutly gorgeous, he stuck around for pictures!
After we settled in it was still raining we drove to Erskine Falls to grab a few quick pictures. Then spent the evening at the hostel ready for the 2nd half of our drive in the morning.
Lots of love, Hayley & Rose
