Hi everyone,
Friday early morning I met Mum and Dad from the airport, they were the first flight in so it wasn't too busy and we found each other pretty easily - emotional reunion. We were having breakfast in the hotel by 7am, on a lovely clear and sunny morning! After breakfast we went for a little walk to see the bridge and opera house while their room was being cleaned.
After Mum and Dad had checked in we went on the Red Sydney Open Top Bus to see the sights of Sydney. Caught a few rays while we were on top deck. Stopped for a lovely lunch in Darling Harbour. With Mum and Dad both suffering from jet lag we spent the afternoon at the hotel. In the evening we went to cafe Sydney which was a really nice restaurant with spectacular views over the harbour and of the bridge and opera house. It was nice to have a proper glass of wine with dinner instead of goon!
Saturday we had a bit of a later start then we hit the shops! Not for too long though because Dad got bored! On the way back to the hotel we stopped for a browse in the Rocks markets just behind from where we were staying, of all things we brough Christmas decorations and I got some photo albums. I am going to have to condense god knows how many photos into 600 to remember my trip by! Thats going to take another year! We had lunch in a really nice sunken courtyard cafe in the Rocks. Late afternoon we took a cruise around the harbour, seeing the bridge and the opera house from a different perspective, we also saw a yacht that had completely capsized and there were 2 guys on the kile trying to pull it back up, without much success! In the evening we went out for a meal with Lydia and Rose as a final farewell and end to our part of the trip.
Sunday morning we walked around near Mrs Macquarie's chair to get some shots of the opera house and bridge together. It was a lot warmer than the previous 2 days. On the way back we walked through the botanical gardens and saw the huge fruit bats roosting in the trees. Mum and I went up the Sydney Tower, it was a really clear day so the views were amazing and you could see just how big Sydney is. We had lunch in a cafe down by the opera house and watched the world go by. In the afternoon we walked over the bridge, well part of the way over. Went to a restaurant in the evening called The Pony for dinner.
Monday morning Mum and Dad went off for their day trip to the Blue Mountains and I went to the airport to catch my flight to Cairns. We meet up again on Thursday in Cairns and then all fly to Lizard Island on Friday.
Love Hayley x
