Sorry we've not had chance to write this for a while but have been so busy! After watching sex and the city 2 the next day we were going to go to the Blue Mountains however it was raining so headed off on the open top city sightseeing bus. Our roomie Karl came with us and sat on the top like true tourise and got soaked. We stopped off all round Sydney, walking round Darling Harbour, Botanical Gardens and saw the bats and huge spiders. Hayley had a close encounter with a cokatoo landing on her arm. We also went to bondi beach but stayed on the bus as it as still raining. The funniest thing of the whole day was when a wet leaf fell from the tree, bounced off the rail in front and smacked Hayley in the face. Hahahahaha! When we got back we started to get ready and had our experience of goon (cheapo box of wine). We went to the hostel bar called side bar. Was a good night! The next day after only a few hours sleep and feeling slightly rough we got the 2 hour train journey to Blue Mountains where Rachel fell asleep and snored, much to Hayleys embarrassment. We got off the train and jumped on a hop on hop off bus after getting ourselves a Subway. We got off the bus and began to walk to see the Three Sisters, only to choose the wrong path and walk through waist high ferns. After 10 mins we turned back and took the righ path. It was cold and rainy and we couldn't really see much but we had a good day. In the evening we went to the Opera house to set off some lanterns with messages on them with Karl and Stuart however failed miserably and ended up setting fire to them and almost set the opera house on fire!!!!!Hayley had to run squealing down the steps to put it out! Next day (Saturday) we woke up to glorious sunshine, packed and checked out leaving the bags in the room and borrowing Karls key. We walked to the Sydney Harbour bridge, then climbed it!!!!!! It was expensive but was amazing and well worth it! Rachel didn't enjoy being felt up by some old American guy though. We went back to the hostel to get our bags but the key wouldnt work! After pleading with the guy at reception we got our bags and then were picked up by Andrew. He took us to Watsons Bay then picked Rod up and went back to their house. We went for a lovely meal then hit the town!! Had a brill night, was so much fun, thanx Rod and Andy! Sunday we got the ferry to Manly all feeling rather hungover. Hayley (who attracts wierdos) ended up being talked at about politics, steelwork and the Queen by Australias wierdest man. Whilst us 3 laughed our heads off! Then when he pulled a banana out Hayley nearly through herself overboard. We had fish and chips on the beach but then the weather started to turn so we headed back. Just had a chilled night in watching a dvd.Had a fab two days with them!
Monday morning we got on the oz experience bus and headed to spot x surf camp. We had a good night sat round the camp fire playing drinking games. We went to bed in our green shed after convincing stuart his feet didnt smell (even though they did). Next day we had an 8am surf lesson with some proper surfer dudes. Was really good and managed to stand up on the boards however we seriously injured oursleves! Rachel = broken little finger after surf board hitting it. Hayley = missing toenail and knee popping in and out of socket. All in all a good day. We then headed off to Byron Bay and arrived there at about 4.30ish. Met our bus buddys at Cheeky Monkeys for tea and a few drinks.
Wednesday we had our first lie in of the trip and got up at 10! We walked along the beach with our friend Kathleen, to the most easterly point of Australia and up to the lighthouse in the beautiful sunshine. The views were fab from there. After an ice cream at the lighthouse made our way back, had tea and chilled out. Were v suprised when Karl turned up out the blue from Sydney!
Thursday was beach day!!!! We lay in the sun all day and had a little paddle in the sea. Went for tea at Cheeky Monkeys then stayed there for the rest of the night. Met loads of great people that night.
Friday was a lazy day. Rachels finger and hand was really swollen and bruised and extremely painful so went to the doctors. He said it was broken and strapped it up! We went to the lighthouse for sunset however misjudged how long it would take to get there and missed it. Ooops. Still got some good piccies tho! Another night at Cheeky Monkeys!
This morning we checked out and got the bus to Surfers Paradise. We arranged to meet Pete who we met on the plane as he lives in this area. We had a walk on the beach then went up a v tall tower for a 360 degree view of the area. Was amazing, the beach is sooooooooo long, you can't actually see the ends of it. The area is quite touristy but beautiful :) We're here till Wednesday then off to Brisbane. We've taken loads of piccies (518 to be exact). However having lots of problems trying to get them on fb so we'll keep trying and hopefully soon can get them up for you all to see!
