Hayley & Mark's Travels
Hi All,
Sorry for not writing anything for over the last month or so. We are in Udaipur- Rajasthan. We arrived yesterday and its beautiful. We are staying in a place called Lakeshore Hotel ( as you can probably imagine we are over looking Lake Pakola). Are room is amazing with stained glass windows, pillars and alcoves- very tradional indian style.
Well we arrived in India about 1 1/2 months ago now- leaving us only around 2 1/2 weeks left until we are home.
After leaving Paloem (Goa) we headed south of Goa to Anjuna which is another travellers hang out up north. We treated ourselves a bit and stayed in a hotel with a pool. Great!! Having not seen a pool in over 3 months it was really nice. All though we are in low season in India at the moment as it is to hot over here and partly dueto the monsoon down south we got the room at a bargain. We meet some really lovely people- Patty the topless beautican (what a laugh) but you will here plenty of more about here when we get back. Went to Paradiso- nightclub- what a joke it was the dingest thing we have ever seen.
Stayed in Goa for just over 2 weeks and headed further down south to Kerela via Sleeper bus stopping off at Mangalore. We arrived in Kerela 20 hours later by bus. We stayed in Fort Cochin we was a lovely area, we really liked Kerela and can both imagine visiting there again. From there we caught another bus down to Allepuza (still Kerela) and stayed with the Johnson's a family homestay we was really nice and allowed us to experience what family life is like in India. They were great and really helpful- however the Monsoon started the day after we arrived. They recommend another family to stay with teh Joseph's by the Secret Beach. We had lovely homecooked meals which went down like a treat and spent the day down at the beach in their beach hut, with the rain pouring outside- haha. Whilst at the house we made more friends with their dogs and cows, especially two puppies Leo (German Shepard) and LLoyd (Bull Masstif). We spent an amazing day and night on the Nest houseboat cruzing the backwaters of Kerela, whilst being fed wonderful food and doing a spot of night fishing- however we were unsuccessful, the crew were not and we were able to eat the fresh fish.
After that we went back up to Fort Cochin for a few more days and then caught a flight to Bombay were we stayed a night and flew on to Delhi.
After hearing not great reports about Delhi we thought it would be a city much like the other ones we had visited- but to our much delight we really loved it. We stayed in the heart of New Delhi in a place called Connaught Place. We spent a week their taking in as much as possible and doing lots and lots of shopping. Mark got fitted for two tailored suits, which have come out great, and his really pleased. We visited the Red Fort in Old Delhi which was great and ate tons and tons of Baskin Robins icecream, from down the road. We said goodbye to Delhi for a while as we will be returning as we fly from Delhi to get back home. From there we headed south down to Agra, where we stayed for 3 nights and visited the notourious Taj Mahal, which was everything we had expected and more. We got up at 5am to be at the Taj for sunrise. We arrived and to our amusement (not really) had to pay 750 rupees for entry where as the Indians themselves only pay 20. Something we have come accustomed to. But it was worth every penny.
From there we caught a bus to Juipur- Rajasthan which took 5 hours in sourching heat without a/c, netherless to say we looked a total mess when we got off. We sayed in Juipur for one night as we were anxious to get to Udaipur. Caught another non a/c bus for 10 hours and finally arrived. Yet to explore as we had a lazy day today, but it lokks amazing with lots of narrow alleyways to explore and lots and lots of wonderful monuments and buildings.
We stayed here for a couple more days then head to Jaislamir- were we have been told is absoultely boiling- if
its 40c here is i cant imagine what Jaislamir will be like.
I hope your all well, and we will write again as soon as we have some info on our next destination.
Take care and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
Lots and lots of love
Hayley and Mark
