We opened the window ( slid the sliding window) and listened to the rain pouring. We then woke, after another amazing nights sleep, to a beautiful day. We can see the snow capped mountains from our window. We enjoyed another amazing Japanese breakfast, they give you the most perfect boiled egg. We then walked next door to the Hida Folk Village. This is a beautiful village preserving village houses over 200 years old. They are beautifully designed and all have a big fire pit but no chimney apparently the smoke kept insects away. I love that the barn was also under the same roof! We then went into town and wandered the lovely old preserved streets and shops. Takayama is just lovely, small, relaxed and beautiful. We retired to our lovely Ryokan and booked dinner. Dinner was amazing with appetiser, sesame tofu, pickles, sushi, tempura and hida beef to cook in a clay pot with rice and miso soup. I am so going to miss Japanese food- totally satisfying without the guilt. Time for a rest before Tokyo which I have a feeling is going to be huge and crazy.
