We arrived in levanto late in the afternoon after driving from Pisa. In the camp we met an Aussie couple from margret river.
The cinque terre is 5 towns with very little access. There is a train that stops at each one and that is the only transport that can get to all towns. This is the attraction to come here, no big resorts. There is a path(goat track) from one end to the other that takes 5 hours to walk/hike.
The next day we caught the train to the first of the 5 towns, to to the hardest section of the walk first. For 2 hours we climbed up and down stairs up to at one point 300m above sea level (from sea level). The walk had magic views and was well worth the effort, even though we couldn't walk an easy section because of a landslide. Half way we met up with the Australian couple and did the rest with them, including drinking till some hour in the morning!
