Minibus from San cristobal to Agua azul waterfalls - several levels of tumbling falls with surrounding jungle. Rob just had time to get his swimmers on for a quick dip in the top pool before we were whisked onwards to mishol-ha waterfall - 35m fall in to rather large and very tempting pool - no time for a dip here though (this is the problem with 'tours' but we had to take one on the chin on this occasion). Next stop palenque Maya ruins - pretty incredible struct...

Woke up in San cristobal after 11 hours on the bus. Time for one of those coffees San cristobal is renowned for. Sat in the sunshine in the zocalo, wandered through craft and food markets, and sat in a few churches. Stumbled upon a bit of a party in one of the smaller squares, with band playing funky mexican calypso (?) as per the photo. When do people work? There's always a party. That said, siesta time.... Amy was woken after a 2.5 hour sleep! Enough time left...

Breakfast in puebla, lunch around about tehuacan, dinner in Oaxaca, sleep on the road, wake in San cristobal (hopefully!). Bus to Oaxaca, whistlestop tour including the staple of churches and squares, local cuisine of Negro mole and a couple of beers in the zocalo to the tune of a saxophonist. Now being accompanied by a brass band on the bandstand. Oaxaca seems nice, but alas we have a night bus to catch. Hasta luego!

Checked out what used to be a very large pyramid in cholula, after negotiating the local buses. Over-ordered by about 3 main meals for lunch back in Puebla. Attempted to walk it off via a museum and the rather large gold and silver grotto that was puebla's famous cathedral. When that didn't work, tried to wash lunch away by sampling some rather splendid Mexican beers.

Floated through the tranquil canals of Xochimilco. Sampled some corona with chile....not recommended! Spent the afternoon at Frida's blue house.
