I've had a busy few days on my little adventure since I last updated you all!
So after the 19 hour train journey from hell we got to Jaisalmer and spent 3 nights there in the desert. It's a completely different side of India that we're seeing now as there are more tourists and everything is geared towards the tourist trade. In some ways this is good because I feel a bit more in my comfort zone but on the down side everything now costs a lot more. Jaisalmer was awesome though. We stayed in a brilliant hotel in the middle of the fort and from our hotel window you could just see the desert for miles and miles. All the little streets and little shops had real character. And I have to admit that for the first time I did a bit of shopping!
While we were in Jailsalmer we took a day safari out into the desert which meant riding camels! Big, stinky camels! I managed to get stuck on the runt of the bunch so I actually had a baby stinky camel! It took us 2 hours to get to our campsite and that night we slept out underneath the stars. I was really happy because I saw two shooting stars. Then at about 6 in the morning some of us got up and watched the sunrise whilst sitting on the sand dunes. Definately one of those moments that you'll remember forever.
Now we're in Jodhpur - the home of jodhpurs (although I haven't seen any yet). The skyline is dominated by the impressive Mehrangarh fort and down below there sits lots and lots of blue houses. Inside the fort I decided to get my palm read! Mr Sharma told me that:
I have a short temper.
I am adaptable and able to get on with all sorts of people.
I'm hardworking.
I'm going to have 3 children.
I suffer from headaches.
I should go into some kind of holistic therapy!
Obviously there was a bit more detail than this and I've left out some other personal things he said but overall it was an experience! I was more curious than anything but really glad I got it done. Now I just need to find another palm reader in another city to compare!
