After a month on the farm, I was very happy to get back to the luxury of Vicky and Grant's house in Melbourne. It was wonderful to see them both, as well as have a long shower and a room to myself and a sofa! Ahhhh bliss. :) They also fed me up with delicious food, making up for my month of pasta and tomato sauce.
The Easter weekend was quite action packed and of course filled with delicious chocolate. Even Vicky managed some as Grant and I had found her some dairy&gluten-free chocolates. We went to the Mornington Peninsula for a walk along the beach on Friday which was beautiful. On the Saturday night we went into the city for a yummy Japanese meal followed by a performance by Mark Watson for the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He was unbelievably funny and had us crying with laughter. Brilliant. The following day we went down to the famous Bell's Beach to try and catch a bit of the Rip Curl Pro Surf World Championship. Unfortunately the rest of Victoria seemed to have had the same idea and it was so packed we could hardly even see the sea! The waves weren't too big but at least I've been to the beach.
After 2 weeks of relaxing and catching up with Vicky and Grant, and my friend Sam who also lives in Melbourne, it was time to head north. I am hoping to get enough harvest work to qualify for a second year working visa for Australia (3 months) and the picking season is now in Queensland. On Wednesday I flew up to Brisbane for a few days with Azza, and tomorrow I head off to a town called Childers where I plan to work for as long as I can. I was very lucky with the work I got on the hops harvest and I think the next bout will be a fair but tougher. Wish me luck! I'll keep you posted... :)
