Hi everyone sorry not updated for a week been travelling for three days to get to Laos via boat (was certainly an experience see the laos blog) Hope everyone is well back at home.
We arrived in Bangkok after a 12 hours bus journey from Siem Reep we passed through the border no problem though a lot of hanging around was involved, the journey was not too bad the first bus we had was a typical Cambodian bus all the luggage piled at the front and really uncomfatable seats no aircon or fan and crammed with people, but once we crossed the border we got put onto a much nicer bus well at least the seats reclined so we could rest a little.
We had nowhere booked when we arrived in Bangkok but headed for Ko San Road the famous backpacking spot we checked into a place right in the middle which had a roof top swimming pool! We had met a lad from Warrington and a young lad from Japan who also checked in the same hotel so we went for food with them, the young lad from Japan had half a larger and had to go back to the room because he was drunk! He was all over the place because he does not drink much it was very strange. Ko San Road is party central I expected it to be a dirty place for some reason just from what I had heard but it was quite a nice surprise there are some amazing food stalls set up all over the place cooking things like noodles, fresh seafood, local thai food it really was fantastic. It is quite a young crowd and everyone is up for partying but there are also some quiter more laid back streets aswell.
We tried to book the bus to move onto Chang Mai (thailand) the next day but it was full so we had to book for the following day so we had the night to go out drinking as we knew we did not need to rise early (trying to do a long bus journey with a hangover not good) Joe recognised lots of things from when he was here before with Gaz and Daz so not that much could have changed he even remembered the place they stayed in and the tours are the same snake farm, bridge over the river kwai etc.. Had a great night out with the lad from Warrington drank loads and ate loads of really nice food along the way.
Next day had a look around the market bought some new clothes as it is so cheap and got ready to catch the overnight bus to Chang Mai. We are flying back to Bangkok at the beginning of August before we head to Ko Pagnan so we checked out a nice place to stay for the night just round the corner from Ko San Road in a nice little street called Joes Guesthouse!
We loved our night in Bangkok though glad to be moving on to Chang Mai.
