Went to the board game café a few times, really cheap amazing chocolate fondue, and then there are two menus, one for drinks and snacks and one for games. So you pick some board games with your drinks and can just sit and play them for like $1-3 dollars each depending on how long they are supposed to take. Good idea and good fun.
Decided to leave Sydney soon so bought a pass that gets you into a lot of the attractions and went and blitzed everything touristy in the last few days; wildlife centre (touched koalas and saw some more kangaroos), aquarium with the largest crocodile in the world, up the Sydney tower, on a jet boat, where we got soaked to the skin literally and a cruise around the harbour. Also went to Luna park, the only theme park in Sydney, it's all really old but that genuinely made it more scary because we thought there was a good chance we were going to come off those creaky rides and die, a circus, the largest Imax screen in the world to see Avatar, an Indian cinema where you lie down on the floor to watch the film, went to a Jamie T gig and Rob took me to a show at the opera house for a Christmas present too. The Tomtom crew, was amazing, mixture of drumming, acrobatics and an amazing beatboxer, never heard anything like him!
Then moved to Melbourne, had a massive nightmare, the morning of the flight Rob was flying home too and we assumed he could take an extra case for me as he brought one out full of xmas presents from my mum and that only cost £40 extra. However, when we run Qantas they said it would be an extra $1000!!! So we looked at Jetstar for me to take it to Melbourne and that was another few hundred and then I'd have to pay more to do something with it from there anyway. So I remembered I'd heard people mention posting it, so we looked up the nearest post office and ran down there dragging the case and she said she could post it but it had to be under 20kg. So she weighed it and it was about 19.7, so we were both hi-fiving and impressed we'd guessed the weight so well when she said she had to bubble wrap the whole thing and so we had to take out 3kg. so I took out a few pairs of shoes and some chocolate I thought would be fairly heavy and she tried to claim I still had to take out half my clothes so I asked if I could weight it again first to see how it was going and it was already like 17.1 or something, i.e. fine! Then she said ok okI'll put the bubble wrap on and weigh again, and it only went up to about 17.4. So basically was fine in the first place!!! Had to throw away stuff for no reason and because it was totally wrapped in bubbles couldn't add them back in and my backpack was already too heavy to carry too. Had more drama at the airport with all Rob's cases which took up another hour, so was basically the most stressful day ever, as well as being our last day together here, rubbish.
Then got to Melbourne and just wasn't impressed, seems so dead compared to Sydney, walked for about half an hour to find a pub! Nowhere near as much touristy things to do either so looking to move on as soon as I can find chances of a job somewhere else, maybe Cairns or Tasmania.
So lonely too, think that's the main problem, going from a good group of friends in Sydney to nobody here is really hard. Haven't had anyone good in my room and it's the largest hostel in the world which makes it a lot harder to meet people and nobody seems interested in integrating anyway.
