Since my last blog I have moved all the way down the south of Vietnam to Nha Trang.
Halong bay was really pretty! It is now one of the natural wonders of the world and it's easy to see why. We left the hostel around 8am and I was still drunk from buckets the night before. I had to pack a bag and sit on a bus for 5 hours (4hours Vietnam time) it wasn't too bad I just tried to sleep. Once on the boat we had lunch, I mainly ate rice and veg as the brought out tofu or an actual whole fish.. Yuk! Not good with a hangover. We then went to some caves which were weird. Pretty inside but too touristy and far too many people. We all wish we had stayed on the boat, it wasn't what we were expecting. We then chilled out on the boat and went to were we moored for the night. It got dark pretty quick and after some cocktails a few people jumped in. I was drinking but it was having no effect due to the buckets the night before, only making me more tired. We had dinner which was ok,again I just had rice but they also brought out chicken for the non fish eaters. There were some argentinians on the boat who were with Vicky (who I'm with now). They Played argentinan music and everyone was dancing a lot. About 10:30 I went to bed as I was dying. We got up around 7 for breakfast then went kayaking. We weren't given life jackets nor did they ask if anyone could swim. They didn't really give instructions apart from only be 50mins and go round those rocks and vaguely pointed. As it goes we went around totally the wrong rock which was massive and got lost. We had to turn around and find our way back, we were def longer than 50 mins. We got back on the boat and had 45 mins to sunbathe before lunch and heading back.
We had around 10 mins from getting back from the boat before the night bus to Hue. It was a massive rush but the bus ended up being 30 mins late. It was all tourists on the bus and the 4 of us grabbed the back seats/ beds. Although some polish girl with weird toes came between us all and I woke up to her spooning me. Not impressed!! We planned on leaving Hue that day for Hoi An to meet Vicky but our bus was full so we stayed at Hue Backpackers in a room full of really stupid Essex boys! Actual morons! But the 4 of us, me Lauren Rael and Sophie had a tuk tuk style take us around the citadel/ kings garden and to a pagoda for an hour giving us little bits of knowledge as we went around. That eve we went for dinner and had cocktails. We left for Hue at 8am the next day and arrived 5 hours later. After checking in and going for a walk we randomly bumped into the argentinans from the boat and they let Vicky know we were there. That's the thing I love about traveling, you bump into people you met along the way everywhere you go!
I will update this soon as I'm on my phone and it's v hard to write. I will write about the lovely Hoi An and touristy Nha Trang!
Big Love!!
