I loved Cambodia! I first went to Phomm Pehn (possibily spent wrong!) me and Sophie met a guy called Will on the bus so he came with us to a hostel. We heard about one called top banana, it looked really nice but it was full so we went somewhere else, also full! Then we went to Blue dog, very basic but clean and helpful staff! The following day we went to the S-21 prison and the killing fields from the Khmer Rouge movement run by Pol Pot. It was horrific! Really really sad. Dont really fancy going into detail on here as it was so gruesome. The killing feilds were very well organised and you have a headset to walk around with. It got me to tears! We went to the prison first as that was the route the Cambodians would have done at the time. Seeing all the pics of everyone (there were LOADS) who entered the prison was horrid but what was worse was that s-21 wasnt the only one! that evening we just felt really overwhelmed and went for a few drinks to cheer us up but that experience will remain in my head forever! Some Cambodians we met must have been around during the time as it was only in the 70's! V sad! We went to the market and had some amazing street noodles for 25 cent.. Cambodians all use dollars, even cash points give you dollars. Anything under a dollar you get change in riel, so weird!
Next day was Siem Reap time! Loved it here! We went to Angkow Watt for sunrise. I bumped into Pat who I met in Laos so he joined us in our tuk tuk. Angkor watt was pretty impressive! But after a day I was all templed out. It is amazing how these temples were built all those years ago! That eve I went out with will, sophie and tons of others who I'd met in Laos and other places. It was so fun. We went to temple bar and angkor way bar. Needless to say buckets were involved.. Enough said!
Next day we went for a wonder around but my highlight was going to a Cambodian school to help teach English. It was so good!
I have to go and get a boat to Krabi now so I will finish when I'm there. Have to write about the school experience a bit more!
Big love!!!!! Mwah
