Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world; therefore we spend a whole free day in the city where we can boost our adrenalin levels to the max. With all available activities such as Skydiving, paragliding, bungee-jumping etc. this is certainly possible!
I decided to go for the bungee and jet-boat experience, as this is THE opportunity to do it. One girl from our group also went bungee jumping, so it was good to be nervous together.
At around 9 our shuttle bus was ready to bring us to the Kawarau bridge bungee, the first commercial bungee jump (43 metres high). After overcoming the initial shock, there is actually just one thing we could do: head up the bridge and get ready to jump!
After being securely fastened to the bungee all that is left is smile and wave to the camera and convince your body that it is actually a very good idea to leap from the ledge. After a quick rush you realize that you're actually not going to die, touch the water with your hands and bounce back for a bit. It was very, very cool! (I actually wanted to go for the higher jump next!)
After this we took a lot of pictures and went back to Queenstown. As the jet-boat ride was not until 15:00, we decided to go up the mountain with the gondola and take a ride on the luge track. We really had lots of fun doing this.
Next a quick lunch and I met up with Andrew (an Irish guy from our tour group) to go to the jet-boat. Since he had not yet have his lunch, we went to "Fergburger", a culinary institution specializing in serious burgers. Much better than McD. and I think that one burger can be sufficient to feed a small family.
Together with Ben (Aus) and a Spanish girl we headed for the shot-over river for a 20 minute ride in a 500 hp boat. I had a great view from the front seat! It was really awesome and very worth the price!
After all it was a very good day with lots of thrills! A real Queenstown special.
