Today we have an early rise to go to Nelson. This tour often starts very early!!
After spending the morning in the bus, we stop at Kaikoura for lunch and seal watching; they like to relax on the rock close to the beach. It is really cool to see seals, and the scenery is very nice as well. After this we go on a nice walk along the coast which really treats us to a superb view. Near the end of the trip we see that our path has disappeared due to a landslide, something that apparently happens quite often in New Zealand. After a bit of improvisation we find our way back to the bus and head out to the Marlborough vinyards.
The Marlborough region is becoming more and more famous for its' wines (especially white wines), and therefore the next point on our agenda's is wine tasting! The Chardonnay is ok, the rest of the wines are not really what I had expected. I really didn't like the only red wine that was available, so I didn't finish this.
A bit more interesting than the wines was the cat that lived in the shop; it was a really big, black cat, that somewhat resembled a small black lion; very beautiful!
After the wine tasting we all fell asleep in the bus (except for the driver) and spent the rest of the day on the road. In the late afternoon we arrived in Nelson where we will spend the next two nights.
