It was already hot when I got up, before it got hotter I headed south for a 5K run down the coast. I went on the road as the beach further along as too many shells on it to make running a sensible option. There were many dog walkers and elderly people out for their morning stroll.
I decided to make use of my balcony which looks inland and catches the morning sun. I parked up here while watching Arrow and enjoyed the heat for a while. Once suitably cooked from the front, I went to lie on the beach and pop in and out the sea. Noticeably shallow water extended out all the way to the end of the pier. It was nice to walk around in and see he fish darting around you.
Lunch was taken across the nautical bridge on the marina pier. I stopped in the fashionable Oyster Bar for their Wednesday special of a dozen Kilpatrick Oysters for $17 & a couple of glasses of wine. The bar has a cool ice pyramid full of beers and wine. It overlooks the boats and yachts in he marina. As the oysters were never going to fill me up & I was at the seaside. I popped to the Bay chippy, for a small fish and chips that I ate in a seat overlooking the beach.
The rest of the afternoon was spent much how the morning had been on the beach, popping in an out the ocean.
At 17:00 I grabbed a happy hour pint and Laura arrived at 17:30 to head over to the beach bar. With my time in the sun l’m sure people would suspect Laura of being the English one as she looked very white in comparison to me! We grabbed some loungers there and set up camp for a while. I did break off for half an hour to take part in the volleyball training. His consisted of a German girl who lived in Adelaide & the coach. Who did have some good insights in the differences between beach and indoor volleyball. After a day in the sun and a few drinks it was no surprise that serving was the best part of my game. I was very glad I only did 30minutes and not the full hour as I was knackered from trying to move around in the heat.
I rejoined Laura and we listened to the live musician as we watched the sunset. Her friends arrived in due course and we headed off for a tasty little Mexican. Frozen Margaritas were very nice even though the sun had long gone.
I managed to check in to my flight back, so that’s out the way. Nice bath & then bed.
