Without setting any alarms Becky and I were both up at 8:00 which meant we were only five minutes late for our scheduled departure time of 8:35am.
The hardest part of the journey was getting north out of the New York City area from South Brooklyn. Emily negotiated the morning traffic extremely well in the rain. After about an hour we finally reached the interstate and things started to open up. The first part of the journey was spent listening to chilled out 90’s music while spotting license plates from as many states as possible.
To break up the journey Stefan and Emily had kindly agreed for us to do some shopping at Woodbury Common retail outlet centre. Becky had been here once before with the family and spent the entire day here and after an hour I could see why. With brands from all over the world and ridiculously cheap prices never mind the exchange rate you could stock up for life. I limited myself to a new pair of Armani Jeans some Calvin Klein shirts & bag. Also some gym gear from under armour, had I realised what the actual price was when I got to the checkout I would have bought more. Becky picked up a couple of tops from CK, and a whole bunch of baby gear from the only place any decent baby would shop Osh Kosh B’Gosh. Stefan and Emily had kindly waited for us to finish and it was a good thing we did have to move on as I would have bought more had we had more time. It was a shame we hadn’t planned this part of the trip before I went to Macy’s could have saved even more!
Back in the car for the next part of the journey, we moved onto 90’s Smash Hits! Stefan just about holding onto victory in the guess the artist and song game.
We arrived at our home for the next two nights around 15:00 and we were all very impressed. A large spacious place with great views of the greenery and of course a hot tub out back.
We decided to head into the postcard perfect town of Chatham to grab some flights of beer from the brewery. We sat outside in the veranda area with fans cooling us from the sun that had driven away the rain. The small town was so nice and peaceful it was a great stop off point. We popped next door to the liquor store for some wine and jäger.
For the evening we got our supplies from the 24hr supermarket. Dinner this evening was Fajitas & refried beans, with potato chips as snacks. Before dinner we all spent some time on the deck & in the hot tub enjoying some nice wine.
Stefan & Emily did the meal prep then we jumped in to cook. We all ate in the dining room like civilised grown ups. Only slightly diminished by our shots of our new creation, Jäger mountain. Jäger & Mountain Dew pretty tasty really, later in the night Becky & I tried it as a mixed drink & it worked well too.
Following a sensible pause we moved into the hot tub for a few hours, & chatted. Before calling it a night Stefan, Becky & I watched another couple of episodes of The Ranch.
