As it was Cristel's birthday we decided to have some mimosas with our breakfast. Always a fun way to start the day.
It was quite cloudy & wet so we had little option to retreat to the cottage. We passed the time playing lido & watching a family film. The film had many plot holes & was full of American/Yankie propaganda. But what can you expect for that time of the day.
By the end of the film it had stopped raining. I suggested we drive to the lake just 5mins from the hotel. Normally you can swim here, have BBQ's & they have a bar. At this time of year though the lake was overflowing with murky brown water. We got told by management that we needed to inform reception of our intention of going to the lake. As we should have been supervised.
To keep us outside we took lunch on the veranda of the country club as the sun made its first appearance of the day. As today was a national holiday in Malawi the golf course was very busy despite the weather & we able to watch people coming in to finish their rounds.
With the sun out we headed back down to the lake for some animal spotting. I did inform reception, who seemed unperturbed by us going down alone. In the distance we saw some Zebras & Kudos. While we were all looking into the distance a Sable stood up for where it had been resting by another BBQ. We nick named the Sable Steve who kept us company as we looked for other animals. An Impala crossed our path quite literally as we drove back to the hotel. We also noticed Steve had found some friends and was resting on the tee box of the driving range.
A shower & change before heading to dinner. Throughout our time here we kept sitting at different tables in the restaurant to try & complete them all. (Because we are cool like that) By our count tonight though we shall be short one sitting to compete the set. I had a very tasty burger with bacon & egg. Scotty not feeling that hungry came up with the sensible plan of having a salad starter. Little did he know that the head chef here only creates huge salads. How anyone could even contemplate a meal after a salad like that I will never know.
We ended the night with some more drinks back at the cottage watching Matrix revolutions, & playing more Ludo.
