Unfortunately we had another long driving day when we left Byron Bay. We were now really just heading down to Sydney which means the tour is coming to an end which is quite sad. Has all gone by so quickly and has been a lot of fun and met so many nice people.
As it was quite a long drive to Sydney we stopped for the night at Myall Shores. We were staying at an eco resort right on the lake which was really nice!! Our lodges were definately the best we had stayed in so far on tour! We had a bbq for dinner and then quite a few of us headed down to the lake. There were some chairs downt here so we sat for a while looking at the stars. The sky was so clear it was like a blanket of stars - so pretty! Saw quite a few shooting stars as well :) A few of stayed down there for quite a while, enjoying the piece until it started getting too cold - could tell that we were further down south as nights were getting a lot colder, I had one of the boys mountain base layer type jumper and still got really cold!!
The next morning a few of the guys went kayaking but they only got 20mins so not many actually went. We drove for a few hours until we got to Hunters Valley which is a wine region. We stopped here for a couple of hours where we did a bit of wine tasting and had some lunch. It wa really nice and sunny so sat outside with some wine, enjoying the sun. We were dragged back on the bus (think everyone could have happily sat out there all day) and we carried on our drive into sydney. It wasn't long until we arrived in Sydney and we saw the bridge and the opera house looming! It was a bit surreal finally actually being here!! We stopped off for anice group picture in front of the bridge and then got dropped off at the hostels.
I met Shel outside the hostel and we went and caught the bus to her and Jons flat in Manly. It was really good to see them after being away for so long. Some of the guys from my tour group and some of their friends were going out in Sydney that night so we quickly had some dinner and then headed back out to the city. We got the ferry across which wa nice as could see everything lit up. When at the other side we went round to the Rocks to the Argyle bar. It was really nice in there and managed to meet up with most people - some of my group got in but some wernt let in because they were wearing trainers which wa a bit annoying as it would have been nice to say bye to them properly. We had a few drinks in there and then headed off to a club called The Ivy. There was quite a big queue but Shel worked her magic with one of the bouncers and he let us straight in! :) Had a really good night out and it was in the early hours by the time we got back to Manly!
The next morning me and shell had a nice lie in - poor jon had to be up early for physio! We had a right lazy morning and then headed down to the beach as it was really hot and sunny. We spent most of the day there lying in the sun - me and shell attempted to go in the sea but it was icy cold we only made it up to our knees!! That evening we went out for a few drinks in Manly but didn't stay out for long as think we were all a bit tired from the night before.
Today (yes, am finally up to date with this!! :) ) we went into Sydney to a park in Paddington. It was one of their mates birthdays and they were having a bbq in the park. When we got there there was quite a few people and the sun was out again so had a really nice time chilling out in the sun! Some of the guys played rounders which was quite funny as none of the aussies knew what it was!! We stayed until late in the afternoon before getting a ferry back to Manly. It was just starting to get dark and was really nice to see the bridge and opera house in a different light. Been having a nice chilled out evening in tonight. Tomorrow I'm going into my hostel to be in the city for the rest of the week. Have been racking Jon and Shells brains so have a nice list of things that I can do to keep me occupied! :)
