There have been a few times while we have been living in Thailand where telling someone you're a teacher gets you perks. Finding out about the hiden paradise that is Khanom has to be at the top of the list. The place for 'only Thais and English teachers' is a place that you can only find if you're in the know and has managed to avoid crowds of tourists this way (for now anyway).
We were told by another teacher that this was the place to go for peace and quiet. It definitely delivered! We were taken by motorbike taxi to the beach and the Reggae Bar where they had a beach hut for 100B (150B for three of us-perfect). Everyone was so incredibly friendly and laid back, jus what you need after a weeks teaching little horrors!
So we took a walk down the beach to explore. We walked a mile and didn't meet a single person, Thai or otherwise. I felt slightly uneasy. 'Where are all the people?' I kept saying, but then I realised that they were at other more crowded touristy beaches, leaving this beach just for us. There was one restaurant and bar that we found which did amazing food but quite expensive compared to the street food prices I was used to. But as our money wasn't going n anything else we treated ourselves. We spent the weekend just lying on the beach doing nothing. The Saturday night was quite quiet, just a beer or two at the Raggae Bar. Joe, the guy who owns the bar, was so happy. 'I love it when it's busy' he said. I looked around. There were no more than 20 people there.

patrick There will be another ''theme'' party this weekend - so expect many more than 20. Unfortunately for Joe the weather is crappy now.
Ville Horrible place. Violent owner. Stay away
