I decided to fly down to Melbourne for a few days before going to Claire and Mat's for xmas. The lovely Kristy (Mat's sister and my fellow bridesmaid at the wedding) offered to put me up, which was fantastic.
Spent the next two days wandering around Melbourne and taking in the sights. The main city area is amazing and very buzzing. Its a really easily laid out city, but has loads of little roads leading off the main ones which have funky boutiques and coffee shops on. I went to see the Old Melbourne Gaol aswel, which was fun, apart from the lady acting as the prison warden taking her job far too seriously, and making something fun into hard work!! I spent ages looking around the shops and getting severly lost! I got lost so much in Melbourne - it was shocking!
The next day I took the tram out to St Kilda and got abit lost again. The beaches aren't amazing there, but they serve the puropse I guess. Unfortunately my time is Melbourne was slightly faltered by the ridiculous amount of rain that fell the entire time I was there. I couldn't be annoyed about it as Melbourne needed the rain, but it was a shame as this might be my only chance to see it. The saying about Melbourne's weather goes 'if you don't like the weather in Melbourne, then wait ten minutes', which actually seems pretty right - it changed constantly!!
Went out with Kristy and her friends on the Friday night and that was great. Danced our bottoms off to the early hours (two of our group stayed so late they managed to get a tram home in the morning!!). I loved Melbourne, but I have to say that Sydney might be winning at the moment!
