I had another night in Nadi, then hit The Yasawas!! These are basically the easiest and cheapest islands for us budget backpackers (I joke that I'm on a budget cos you wouldn't know it the way I'm spending!!). The islands are beautiful, so I decided my first stop would be Tavewa Island, cos it's one of the furthest north, so you spend 5 hours getting there, but get to see all the islands on the way!

I stayed at Coral View resort, which is pretty nice, although it has a lot of people staying there, so doesn't really have the nice closeness of the smaller resorts. I also was too late to snorkel, couldn't go fishing cos I was the only one, and couldn't go on the sunset walk cos I hadn't used my psychic powers to know on this day they were leaving half an hour earlier! Was abit peeved. The island is beautiful though, so had abit of adventure on my own. Had a lovely dinner, but didn't really meet anyone cos my table was full of couples who weren't very communicative. Hey ho, after a few drinks, I went and joined the group that looked the most fun, and met the lovely Joe, Nia, Kirk and Greg which was def a bonus, and we stayed up drinking and talking poo! The next day, despite the drinking, I got up at 7am to do the 'free' snorkeling - this again is a lie, and the snorkeling is not free, but they do take you out on a little boat about 50m's out!! They nearly didn't take me cos I was on my own AGAIN, but I stamped my little feet and had a paddy, and they took me. It was absolutely amazing - the coral was some of the most stunning I have seen, and they guys are even working to grow their own coral. Saw the most fabulous leopard printed fish and thousands of rainbow parrot fish, which are def my fav!

Decided to leave the island, and try one the girls had recommended, which was def a great decision cos its where I stayed for the next four nights. It was the Ecohaven resort on the Island of Waya Lailai, and it was stunning. It had the perfect mix of activities, but also time to do your own thing. The boat over had the fab Vicki and Sarah, and Laura, who I had met at the airport. The people on the Island were brilliant and made sure we had everything we would need. We had fabulous food, and there were more hammocks there than people!! We were lucky enough to be on the island on the 17th of February, which is a celebration day for them, because over 100 years ago a plague of something deadly (I wrote down what but can't find it) hit Fiji, and it killed a huge percentage of the Yasawas population, but missed Waya Lailai and the island opposite!

We were all invited to go to church this day and join the celebrations and thanks.Whilst on the island, we went snorkeling and kayaked over to the opposite island. Just as we arrived, Nia and Joe were getting off the boat, and we found out Greg and Kirk were coming to our island! The next day Joe and Nia swam over to our island, and we went fishing. I caught an enormous fish, and Joe and Nia both caught rocks! Mega! One morning we got up at 5am and trekked to the top of the summit on our island. It was the most painful thing, and I was practically sick about 200m from the end! The view was absolutely amazing though and well worth it. Was pretty tricky walking down cos my legs were like jelly at this point! Nick decided to try to be clever and climb a wall - then fell down and cracked a rib! Whoops!

The evenings were always fun, and the guys would get us all up dancing. One night we had a fashion show and I was dressed up to be the bride. I had to pretend to marry Jack, one of the Fijian guys, which I didn't mind at all, but somewhat ruined the photo's with my shiny red face! We drank a lot of Kava on this island, which resulted in a few people passing out - it's all good fun though! To end our trip, we all went to South Sea Island - it's not very Fijian because it was bought by Awesome Adventures, but it does allow you to do all the activities for free!! We took a mini catamaran out and attempted to sail it. I say that - Sarah attempted to sail it whilst Vicki, me and Diego sunbathed and shouted instructions at her!! We got slightly panicked when the lunch drums went off and we couldn't get in!!

We also did a huge snorkel on the island, and Diego and I went out to feed the fish.The coral here was abit poo, but still good fun. A lot of the places had damaged coral from the cyclone a few weeks previous which was a huge shame. We had a very funny drunken night on South Sea, led mostly by 'The Hoff' and Diego, throwing people in the pool and attempting to save them, but actually drowning them more! The Hoff was a hilarious Swedish guy who only really comes out of his shell after a few beers. By the end of the night he had coloured his moustache in with mascara and was making us all sing Baywatch as he slow motion ran around the pool and saved all the girls!

We did have the treat of our lives that night aswel. Vicki and I were lucky enough to see a turtle digging a hole and laying her eggs in the sand on the island. It was amazing. It was such a rare occurrence to see, that the guys had to call the Marine Biologists to come and tag the turtle so ensure the babies are protected. Sadly, this was our time on The Yasawas over. We headed back to the mainland and were lucky enough to get a 3 bed room for just us girls. We were so shattered and dirty after our week on the islands that we just wanted to chill and not be in dorm room for a few nights. It was only $1 more each and it was heaven. It was the dodgiest room, but to us it was luxury. We had a TV, with only 1 channel, but we had a balcony, so could dry all our clothes. I unpacked my entire bag and when I repacked it, it actually all fit with room to spare. Every backpacker should have this treat for a few days - heaven!

Chilled out and ready to go - flying to New Zealand! YEY!! x x
