Han & Dan
We took the interislander from Wellington to Picton on the south island and it was exciting coz it felt like we were going to another country.
When we arrived on the South island, it was like we were in another country. The scenery was really different with beautiful snow capped mountains and rolling hills surrounding us for the entire journey to our first destination, Kaikoura. We had planned to go whale watching in Kaikoura but the weather was too bad so they cancelled the trips :( We would be coming back this way so we would still get another opportunity, fingers crossed.
Kaikoura in Maori means to eat crayfish so we felt we had to indulge and had a gorgeous crayfish dinner before departing to Christchurch.
Christchurch didn't have much to offer but was a lovely 'English' city. We went on the gondola but didn't get to see much as it was cloudy.
The night before we were due to leave we took advantage of the free sap, so got kitted out in our swimmers and towels. When we were walking to the spa Dan asked the dreaded question, 'Have you got the key??" YUP, we were locked out of the camper and it was bloody freezing, only about 2C and I only had my bikini and Dan had his speedo's on! Not funny, and Danny Boy was truly in the bad books!!
Dan called the AA and they said someone would be there in 1/2 hour and it would cost $85 (about 30 quid)!! I went and sat in the laundry, hoping it would be the warmest place but just looked like an extra in Eastenders with Dot and Pauline washing my smalls!
Luckily the man came after 15 mins and didn't charge us coz i think he felt sorry for us but he said he didn't want to add $85 to our holiday. Aaaarrrr what an ace bloke!
Disaster avoided!
