Interesting sights on our flight into Panama City. We flew directly over the Panama Canal and I was able to get some decent photos of the canal; the first/last locks at the Pacific Ocean end; and the skyscrapers that tower over the oceanfront in Panama City.
One of the "bonuses" of taking long trips is some of the interesting ports of call along the way. Eight years ago when we traveled to Africa, we scheduled our flights to go through Dubai and had an overnight layover that allowed us to tour the city. This trip we are flying two 6-7 hour legs, first from Los Angeles to Panama City, Panama and then on to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We had loosely planned to tour downtown Panama City, since we have a 7 hour layover here. However, when we got here, the skies opened and we decided to stay put in the Copa Lounge. We will be return to Panama another time.
Next stop, Rio!

Beth You didn’t miss too much in the city itself. If you get out further to see the tribes or the canal close up it’s good. It can wait!!!
Caralyn Definitely worth a return trip. Cool photo. Plan a trip sometime to take a boat through the canal. Experiencing the engineering is fascinating! Happy RIO travel!
Lynne Have a good flight to Rio. We're enjoying Vancouver.
Phyllis Enjoy! What a great adventure!!!!
Tam Wow! 8 years since Africa?
