We left Morgan City, LA on New Year's Day. They had dredged the marina the 2 days we were there and we left in a very narrow margin while they were taking a break. We got out to the ICW and right away came to a lock. We could not hail the lock master on the radio which was very frustrating. When we got close enough he flagged us through and then told us he was on channel 14 on the radio. We were on 13. We breezed down the ICW and made it to Houma, LA. ...

We left Galveston on 12/27/12 regardless of the weather. It was very windy from the cold fronts that had blown through the area. We couldn't sail because the wind was in the wrong direction so we took off down the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) just to get on our way.
