Night Location: Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany
Song of the Day: God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman - Glee Cast
Mumisode of the Day: Mum leant back in her chair and revealed that she had her fly down at the table. When Amber pointed this out, she said, "Yes, dear, I know, but I'm tired of being pinched in the stomach!"
A quick trip to Nuremberg Christmas markets in the morning to see the stalls we missed out on last night. Gemma, Amber and David quickly gave up on these stalls and went back to the normal stores in the town. We found an 'Australian' cafe and tried to order hot drinks unsuccessfully. Instead we got coffee milkshakes and David got a cappuccino when he wanted a Mocha. Not very Australian!
We were pretty excited to get to Rothenburg. Mum even encouraged Dad to speed in spite of the somewhat icy conditions. We were amused that the Germans enforced a 120km/h speed limit as a result of these icy conditions. Compared to the F3, a much more enjoyable experience.
Rothenburg is just as beautiful as we remember. We were so early, the hotel wasn't ready for us and so therefore we abandoned the vehicle and headed to the shops where we spent the entire afternoon.
Highlight once again goes to the Christmas Museum shop. It is seriously like Christmas fairyland. Gemma and Amber have decided that all future Christmases should be spent in Europe. Not sure how this is going to go due to limited funds. We really must work on the plan to make David a rich Luxembourg banker.
Dinner tonight was an experience, mainly due to the charismatic owner. He took a particular fancy to us, gave us quizzes on the music and a German trivia book to read. Highlights include learning what the last meal on the Titanic was (not sure as it was in German), the preservatives that are in a Big Mac (once again not sure but a lot) and learning to read palms. Perhaps a future profession here.
We returned home to our four-poster beds that have been particularly hazardous for Gemma and David who continue to crack their heads. Not sure how they will go half asleep in the middle of the night.
