The picture for today is Tuscania during the day as I did not take any photos on this disasterous day
Q would like this to be known as The Day His Beanie Died. His new beanie from Australia developed a large hole in the top of the head. It looked like it had been gnawed on by rodents and could now be worn as a turtle neck. He gave it an appropriate burial in a shopping centre bin.
I woke up sick. Yay. Mucus city. We decided in light of this that we would spend today driving closer to Venice to avoid needing to get up at 4am tomorrow to return the car on time. Driving these roads in the dark is not appealing and if i feel sicker tomorrow we will be stuffed as the car company fobade Q to drive and said the police could sieze the car. Q reckons he could bribe his way out of it but I don't think he has that kind of money on his hands!
We picked Bologna off the map as it is closer to Venice and seems like we could get there without a GPS. Hertz didn't have any and I am not paying roaming for data on my phone. Optus quoted me $20 a mb! as if....
It took about 4 hours to drive there then about 2 hours of being lost and moody before the iphone 'accidentally' logged on to someones wifi and we managed to get a map to the hotel. It didn't help that there were road works on all our planned routes and no one to ask or buy a more detailed map from as everything was closed. Sunday bloody Sundays eh
We eventually made it. I was feverish and had been hallicinating on the drive which i elected not to mention to Q until we arrived. I kept thinking there were men with ladders on the side of the road but it was fences etc. Totally safe at the speed I have become accustomed to driving.
The very nice man at reception ordered us some takeaway to be delivered. I could have wept with joy as getting back in the car was not an attractive concept!
I ended up buying cold and flu tablets. Not so easy when they dont have the same brands and the dude at the farmacia didnt speak english. Got there in the end though! He tried to sell me Italian lemsip but i would have not of that! i think he googled my scribbled 'demazin and sudafed' and figured out I wanted the goodness of psuedoephidrine. I also bought Vicks Vaporub which they do have. Now i smell like a little kid and my skin is all warm but I am drugged up and able to sleep!

Kerstin Oh, poor thing- sounds like a stressful day for you guys, but it made hilarious reading for us.... I´m sure you´re glad your suffering keeps us entertained ;-)
