ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD

After a Benny Hill style episode trying to buy train tickets we finally caught the train to Amritsar. The food on the train was great - and it kept coming - roughly every 45 minutes! Met loads of lovely Punjabi people on the train - even posed for a photo for one of them. We had very little sleep on our first night in Amritsar. We were saddled with a pokey room that had a window facing out into the corridor over the reception. The noise was horrendous, with guests coming and going all night. In the morning we asked to move rooms after some comedy gesturing from me (in the style of a bad 'Steps' dance routine) to convey how noisy the room was. The new room was much better and even had a little balcony. We went to visit the Golden Temple, which was far more beautiful that we had ever imagined. There was a wonder atmosphere there and we went back later to see it lit up at night. It really is a wonderful place.
