FREE PIDGEONS AND AN ONION CRISISThe trip started better than planned with a very welcome free upgrade on the flight out. Met a lovely guy on the flight out - hope you're tuning in Jason - who was great company. The hotel in Delhi was great and gave us chance to recover from the travelling. After spending a day in bed catching up on our sleep we ventured in to Delhi. Feeling brave we took the metro, where we attracted a lot of stares - I don't think any of the Westerners use it so two white girls provided a bit of a freak show for the locals. First stop was the Red Fort. Things got stranger still when a young street boy offered Sarah a live pidgeon - no, we're not sure why either! The fort was beautiful but the temperature here made it quite hard work. We then went on to the Raj Ghat but sadly it was closed in preparation for today's holiday which commemorates Ghandi's birthday. Continuing with the strangeness the headline news over here is the current onion crisis - i.e. too many people , not enough onions, so the prices have gone sky high. "It's bringing a tear to the common man's eye" - apparently! They love a good by-line to their news stories over here.Next stop Amritsar…
