We went to Puedo School at 2:30 to meet Sophie, Sabby, and their Mom who were going to give us a ride to the car rental place. We met them there because it was halloween, and we planned to spend it together at a holloween festival in Mal Pais. Mal Pais is Spanish far Bad Country, they call it that because the town used to not be able to grow crops, and couldn't pruduce much water. Anyway, we all got in the trunk of Sophie's moms car, it was awsome all of the kids were piled in the back of the car while the adults were taking up the rest of the car. Sophie's mom drove us to the car rental place, we needed a car for our trip the next day. My mom like always wants coffee, so she also dropped my mom off to get coffee at the bakery. Me, my mom, and my brothers got out of Sophie's moms car and entered the rain, we all walked down the street to get to the Budget car rental place where my dad was renting the car for our trip the next day. Sophie and Sabby's mom kept driving to there house, she had given us instructions to get there. We were soon driving in our new car, we would have the car for 24 hours.
When we arrived to Sophie and Sabby's house they had some food put out on the counter, there was pizza, sugarless pumpkin pie squares (which were suprisingly good) and they had fun kabobs with marshmellow and fruit, it was the Frankenstein's face. We all got into costumes and put on makeup. I was a fairy, I wore wings that Sophie and Sabby lent me, and I wore a a long blue dress. Sophie was a bride, she wore a pretty white dress, a veil, and makeup. Sabby was going to be Super Woman, but the dress was to hot, so she wore a white dress, and a butterfly headband. Now Levi wasn't really anything, I think he might have been to embarrassed, or he just didn't want to be anything they had. Noah was a police man and Lucas was a doctor. After we were all in our costumes we started a candy scavenger hunt, Sophie and Sabby's dad had made a map of all the places he had hidden candy at. Sophie and Sabby's neighbor, who only spoke Spanish was welcome to come along, so he came to help us find the sweets awaiting us. I really don't remember what there neighbors name was, it was some Spanish name that is hard to pronounce. When we had arrived to Sophie and Sabby's house, I had noticed a bag of candy in the pot of a plant, so I knew where the first candy was. Our candy scavenger hunt took us all the way to the beach! We all got to eat a peice of candy, I had a lollipop, I think I ate the most candy that night.
At the beach there was a bat cave, there were so many bats in it, but you couldn't see them all. My mom took dozens of pictures and videos of the little bats, the cave entrance had a small opening in the front, so nobody could go into the cave. It was very odd, because Sophie and Sabby's neighbor held my hand, the little Spanish speaking boy who I barely new actually held my hand. Sophie's mom told me he was about six or seven, I was amazed, because he looked almost my age, nine! When we got back to their house we saw bats, in the house! They were flying everywhere, the bats weren't supposed to be in the house, but they were a fun treat on halloween! My mom again took lots of pictures and videos of the bats. Hay! It's Halloween and bats in your house, that's a once in a life time experience! After Sophie's dad got the bats out of the house, we left for the Halloween festival at a school in Mal Pais called "One Love Learning Center". Me and my brothers decided to go in Sophie and Sabby's car over are new rental car, so that we could talk and play. We met my parents infront of the school. Sophie told me that she had been to the festival once, and that she didnt like it. Oh, but we all liked it this time, it was awesome. There was a dance floor, a swing set, a food stand, and a movie playing! We danced on the dance floor, and ate a ton of yummy treats. My mom got this cup of white stuff that she really liked, it was like a rice pudding. I honestly feel like I got thirds on cake and cookies! There was real food at the stand, but I wasn't really interested in that, I was interested in the sugar. There were two ropes in between two trees, the ropes were fun to play on. At the festival there was also a little room with big colorful cushions, the cushions were fun to play on, well at least I think, because when Lucas played on them he had a big smile planted on his face.
Oh my goodness, there is so much to say, there was also a lady in a Red Riding Hood costume, she had a basket filled with candy, she was very nice, she gave everybody a piece of candy. There were so many cool costumes to talk about, like the two super heroes, there was two guys with cardboard costumes painted, one of them was BATMAN, and the other one was SUPERMAN. Some people just wore face paint, because it was kinda hard to find a good costume in Santa Teresa. There was a lady selling cute little buckets with pumpkin faces on them, me and Sabby came in front of the table she was selling them at and she said that we could get one for free if we shared it, so me and Sabby got a bucket, the lady said we could each have two candies. Now, something very sad, but funny happened to me, I was throwing the wrapper of one of my candies away, but I actually threw a candy I really wanted to try, it was one of the candies you couldn't get in the states. We searched the trash for a little, (which was pretty gross) but we couldn't find the candy, so on our way out of the festival mom got the same candy out of the bucket where the lady was giving out candy. When we got back to Sophie and Sabby's house I asked if we could spend the night, but truly I knew the answer was no. I also knew why, because the kids had school, and because we would have to drop them off extra early because of the journey ahead of us.
