Croydon, Queensland Jul 18, 2012 The area we are travelling through is a lot better although we should be wearing big hats and spurs. Lots and lots of Cattle everywhere wouldn't want to hit one as they are on the roadside 700 kg +/- would reshape the RIG. We caught up with The Gulflander at a roadside stop. Very old train runs between Normanton and Croydon. We are now at Croydon old Goldmining area fom 1860's used to have many pubs and Hotels in its heyday
Karumba, Queensland Jul 17, 2012 Well Well Well who thought I would have to eat my words regarding Karumba. After I published yesterday we went to the beach to see the sunset. Stopped off at the Sunset Tavern complete with chairs to see the sun do it's thing. The tavern was packed to the rafters (pardon the pun) as one of the great Aussie Icons was performing as in Lee Kerigan complete with film crew. (Country and Western). Karumba, Queensland Jul 15, 2012 Well here we are almost on the doorstep just another 900+/- K's to go to Port Douglas. Well we cansay wev'e been here, town very busy great Fish and chips, nice bakery with lots of y......ummy cakes etc., Typical fishing community everyone has a story about the one that got away. Moving on to-morrow 18th back on the Savannah way, Croydon,Georgetown etc.,
Mt Isa, Queensland Jul 13, 2012 Scenery getting better as we are approaching Mount Isa. Not a great deal to see typical mining town. Lots of Road trains, open cut mines and a great lake with a dam. Stocked up again
