Friday morning, after a three day stay in San Jose we left for Montaña De Fuego in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. We made a few stops on the way, the first being an Ox Cart wood shop. Thursday morning started with a tasty breakfast followed by departure from the hotel at 8AM. We hit the road on our way to the Poás Volcano in nearby Alajuela. Tonight the Men's Basketball team took to the hardwood for a "friendly" game against Universidad Católica in San Jose, Costa Rica. It was a first for the team as we played in a semi-open air court. There was some definite dust that needed to be knocked off but the team quickly took a liking to playing with each other again with a 95-39 win over the home team. Our first full day in San Jose couldn't have started any better. Not only did we get an incredible team breakfast but also the team was given the opportunity to visit an underprivileged children's daycare center. This specific center is primarily for kids who come from a tough home life; whether it be mental abuse, physical abuse, poverty, single parenting, etc. Here the team and parents were able to play and connect with all of the kids. We left Minneapolis with 24 people and arrived in Dallas/Fort Worth with 24 people. We are off to a great start! A bit of a layover here in Dallas, so the boys are off to the food court. Next stop, San Jose, Costa Rica around 8 pm.
