Our first full day in San Jose couldn't have started any better. Not only did we get an incredible team breakfast but also the team was given the opportunity to visit an underprivileged children's daycare center. This specific center is primarily for kids who come from a tough home life; whether it be mental abuse, physical abuse, poverty, single parenting, etc. Here the team and parents were able to play and connect with all of the kids. Most of the kids at the center really crave attention due to their upbringing and because of this there was absolutely no shyness on display. As soon as their teacher counted "uno, dos, tres"...it was as if they shot out of a cannon and sprinted to our group for immediate hugs and playtime. Our guys quickly became human jungle gyms! It was an incredible experience to see how much we were able to brighten there day by just being there for them. We are an extremely fortunate group and a visit like this really puts things into perspective. I believe we helped the children in some pretty cool ways today but I also firmly believe that those kids had an even greater impact on our group. Times like this are tough to put into words; the pictures we posted should tell the story best!
We are now back at the hotel for a little relaxation (the young kids had a lot of energy) and then a late lunch. Shortly thereafter we will be getting ready to board our bus for our first game tonight against "Catholic University", which is a 2nd tier club team out of San Jose.
