Hola Amigos,
Day 8 started off with the group splitting into two, one headed out early in the morning for some deep sea fishing in the Pacific Ocean, all six people in the fishing group caught at least a fish during the trip they caught four amberjack and two mackerel, they also had the pleasure of seeing two whales surface as well. While the other group had breakfast at the restaurant then headed to the beach for some buttering of the gnar on the boogie boards and swimming before the bus departed back for San Jose. With much remorse we loaded the bus heading back in land, clinging on our fleeting moments and dreading ultimate departure.
While several members of the team lay asleep, exhausted from intense sunlight and clashing waves, the bus slowly wound though the mountains back to San Jose. However, rumbling stomachs and low fruit prices drove the bus to a halt. Once again satisfied, the bus drove on. Arriving back at the Crowne Plaza the team retreated to their respected rooms for some rest and relaxation. Dinner was promptly served at 4. After a much-needed carbo-loading session prior to game, the team, coaches, and parents were treated to a sendoff from the three trip guides. Everyone received a shirt, which will be worn with much pride. The trip guides were amazing and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say "thank you."
Next on the agenda was the basketball game. Right from the start we could tell that this was a different game. Our opponents played with speed and athleticism. We fought hard but found ourselves down for the first time during the trip. With a dash, a dribble, and a dive the Gusties battled back. However, our opponents were not raddled and at the end of the half the score was 37-36 in favor of the gusties. Back and fourth the game continued. Just when the opponent gained a snivel of motivation the gusties were there with an answer. In the end the gusties stood on the mountaintop and breathed sweet victory 74-58! We cherished the opportunity to play such a completive team and improve as a ball squad.
Thanks for the memories, they will be cherished for the rest of our lives.
