Monday, August 18th was our second day at the beach with the resort of Punta Leona. The day started off at 8:00 am with a buffet styled breakfast, which included omelets, waffles, rice, beans, cereal and fresh juice. We then departed at 8:30 am to go on our canopy zip line tour. The bus ride was approximately 30 minutes long. On the ride there we winded up, down, and through the hilly terrain that Costa Rica has to offer.
Upon arrival at 9 am at the canopy zip line we knew that an adventure was about to unfold. There were trees and hills in every direction that we looked. After getting harnesses, helmets, and wristbands, we boarded a trailer hooked up to a tractor in two groups. The first group was all of the players and the second was coaches and parents. We rode the trailer to the top of the very steep hill and began our canopy zip line tour. In total there were 12 platforms that we crossed via zip lines on an exhilarating ride. After 6 platforms we had a picture and water break. On the way we saw spiders, snakes and beautiful views of valleys and tree canopies. We finished at about 11:30 am and returned to the resort.
After the 30-minute bus ride back we gathered together for lunch at the resort at about 12:15 pm. Lunch was served buffet style with options including fried fish, beef loins, rice, beans, stuffed tomatoes, fried cheese, and cake with ice cream. After talking at lunch about the morning we had we were about to get ready for a day at Playa Blanca, the resort's white sand beach.
After lunch we had some free time to use the hotels amenities, which include a few pools, beaches, mini golf, a butterfly farm along with multiple other fun things. Almost everyone chose to go to the beach. Many of us rented out boogie boards for the night and we rode the waves in for a few hours. We also had the luxury of snorkeling thanks to Glenn and Cheri Dick.
After the sunset we left the beach and headed back to the hotel so we could get some food. For supper the hotel's restaurant had pork loins, grilled chicken, a fried rice bar, and an assortment of desserts with the team favorite being ice cream. Following supper we had some free time to relax and hang out with each other as we get ready for our final day and game in Costa Rica
Pura Vida!
