We arrived at Airlie Beach last night after a day of travelling via coach. This morning we were up early and ready for a day of ocean rafting through the Whitsundays.
Our boat was called "Jammin" and was a speedy little rib. Laura and I were the last two to board the boat which meant seats had all been taken... However this worked to lie advantage as we got to stand/lean on the ribs sides. This was a right thrill ride for the first part... Then we realised that whoever had these positions acted as a water barrier for the rest of the group! By the time we reached White haven beach we were soaked through! I didn't mind though... Was part of the fun and experience.
We took a walk up to the viewing points on white haven before meeting the boat again to take us for lunch. At this point the heavens opened and we got our second soaking for the day. Never the less the island was beautiful! The sand was so unbelievably white and even felt different as you walked across it!
Our next stop was manta ray nay where we has our first snorkelling session. The coral in the area was pretty damaged due to the destruction of the recent cyclone, the fish however were amazing... All shapes, sizes and colours.
We then headed to butterfly bay to see some intact coral... The reef was amazing! It's another world under the water, it really is!
This was our final stop for the day and Laura, myself and another girl leapt at the front seats on the boat as this was supposed to be the thrill area. Yup... We realises pretty quickly that it was indeed the thrill area... Especially with the swell that was coming in! I have bruises on my back, my arms and my bum from that trip home!
We planned to go out for dinner to beaches and have maybe a drink or two... The night began as planned... Then quickly deteriorated into jugs and Irish dancing in the Irish bar! The night also included a diary farmer trying to demonstrate how to milk a cow (my hand was the udder) and a dance off with some australian people... After winning we made a sneaky escape whilst still on top!
On arriving back to our dorm ( which we shares with 4 of the grumpiest guys I've met) we for stopped by some guys who insisted we have wine with them. Far too drunk for any of that we laughed it off and headed upstairs to sit outside our door and eat drunken snacks. The guys from earlier heard us and invited themselves to join. They were actually a laugh and one of them told us all about his girlfriend back home and how she was the one he wanted to marry... Then went on to tell is about his sexual conquests whilst travelling .... I'm sure there's logic there somewhere :/
Anyway we called it a night around 3 am ... Hoping the alcohol would be enough to let is sleep though our room mates horror I snoring!
