August 20, 2013 Tuesday Day 44 This morning we took the Taku, the fast ferry, to Skagway. It was about an hour ride and we arrived in Skagway around 10:00am. First stop was to confirm our seats on the 1:30 train on The White Pass and Yukon Route Railway, a 40 mile round trip train ride from sea level in Skagway to the White Pass Summit at almost 3,000 feet. August 19, 2013 Monday Day 43 Today, we spent a few hours using the wifi at Haines Borough Public Library. This is a beautiful, state of the art library. In 2005, they won the "Best Small Library in America" award from the Library Journal and Bill Gates Foundation. August 18, 2013 Sunday Day 42 Another cool rainy day though the sun broke out for a couple of hours. We booked a day trip through our campground host to go by ferry to Skagway on Tuesday. August 17, 2013 Saturday Day 41 Yep, got up at 4:00am, not fun, but we are ready to leave Juneau and to explore around Haines for a few days before we leave southeast Alaska for the Interior portion of our trip. Mostly slept on the ferry. It was a four and one half hour passage today, our last trip on the Alaskan Marine Highway.
