G R On Tour
Palolem Beach, Goa (19th - 24th June)
Hello Everyone!
Hope you're all well and enjoying the monday morning back at work feeling...sorry shouldn't rub it in. As some of you know we're leaving india tonight after an amazing 6 weeks here. The flight's at 23:15 our time so we've got a full day to waste as we're severely limited to what we can do when we have our big ruck sacks so here we are...
The last update was from mumbai so again we've been a bit slack as that was 2 weeks ago now, not sure where the time has gone. The train journey was decent from mumbai and we couldn't believe the difference in attitude of the local people in goa. We got off the train and shock horror we were not hounded by touts, in fact we were directed to a pre-paid taxi rank to get to the hotel. It doesn't sound much but just little things make a huge difference when you arrive in a strange new city, and after being in goa for 10 days it was clear to see that this is the first and only place in india that is geared and ready for tourism (from what we have seen).
Palolem was the first beach life we've had on this trip and it was awesome. Stayed in an amazing place right on the beach (palolem beach resort), met some great people, generally had a good laugh and yes the first proper piss up which of course ended up with everyone in the sea at sunrise!
Apart from the beach there is absolutely nothing in palolem so when the monsoon really kicked in after the first few days we were struggling with things to do. We were supposedly very lucky to get those first few days of sunshine as the rains should have hit earlier.
After umming & arring for a day or 2 we decided to leave to go to Panaji & old goa with Jason & Liz (Australian guy & his canadian girlfriend) to do a bit of sightseeing.
