13 degrees at breakfast this morning in Gympie. Lucky for us the day just got warmer and warmer.
We continued north today towards Gin Gin. As usual though we tend not to take the most direct route. Through the fog around Gympie we set the GPS for Tin Can Bay as our first stop. We have stayed here a couple of times before and were keen to see if the town had changed. We decided that there were more houses along the water's edge and some of them would be worth a small fortune.
After attaching the action camera to the bike we rode around town, just so that Greg would have some footage to play with when we get home.
Morning tea was in Maryborough this morning. Neither of us could resist the cream buns! Again we rode around town with the camera going. Maryborough is the Mary Poppins town and there were posters all over the place advertising the coming festival in her honour.
Hervey Bay was next. The only whales we saw were statues, but I guess that would be expected as we didn't get off the bike (except for a quick stretch and toilet stop). Hervey Bay is a real tourist town, most buildings are apartments and many still had vacancy signs out which surprised us a little as it is school holidays and whale watching season.
We needed another break by the time we got to Childers. We found a little bakery and indulged in a sausage roll - half each as we didn't want to spoil our dinner. Temperature had now risen to 26 degrees so Kerrie shed a layer of clothing before we rode on.
Our accommodation tonight is in Gin Gin. We are meeting up with Karen and Ted Thiel for dinner. Ted worked with Greg at Coomera Station and now manages his son's farm just outside Gin Gin since retiring from the police. I guess a few drinks will be in order!
NB: I've managed to upload one photo this time, still to work out how to upload more!
