Greg and Kerrie's travels
We promised ourselves an overseas holiday every second year after the kids flew the coop. So far we are on track with trips to New Zealand, USA and Europe in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. This trip to America is out of sequence but, what the heck, we will bite the bullet and go anyway.
The main difference with this trip, is that we are not taking one of our beloved motorbikes. For our last 5 adventures we have packed our bike in to a container 2 months before we travel and then pick it up from our destination and ride off in to the sunset. As we are only travelling for a month this time, it is not economical to take our own transport, so we will hire a car for this trip.
It is not our first trip to USA, in fact it is our 7th. This time we are concentrating on visiting some friends in New Jersey and Massechusetts and seeing some of the southern states that we have not been to before. Many of the places we will see have "New" in their names, hence the title of this blog. We will also visit motorbike dealerships, museums and probably drive some of the iconic motorbike roads such as the Blue Ridge Parkway and Tail of the Dragon. What can I say - passion can't be ignored!
We know when a new overseas trip is imminent because piles of "stuff" start appearing around the house. We have this process down pat for our bike holidays but packing suitcases is another story altogether!
So, we have our e-tickets (although nobody at an airport ever wants to see them, just your passport), have put some money on our cash card, traded some of our hard earned Aussie cash for greenbacks, found some USA coins in a bottom drawer, recharged our travel sim and decided what cords will charge what devices. As well as all of that, we have accumulated a pile of medication, some essential and some we take - just in case.
I guess all that is left to do is figure out what to do with these. Roll on Wednesday!
