we got to bratislava quite late becasue we were supposed to change trains at 1.30am but when we woke up we couldnt be bothered and decided to go back to prage and then get a train to bratislava. the weather was lovely the best we had so far. we checked in to our lovely hostel and found a leaflet for the free tour and it didnt start till 5 which was perfect. we were able to do a big wash of our clothes and when we came back in the room there was a dirty old italian man in the tiniest pants uve ever seen! we went on the free tours done by an australian and it was really interesting he had a degree in history and polictics and really knew what he was talking about. he told us that slovakia was one of the only countries to actually pay hitler to take there jews and ven though 95% of them died there is no memorial in the town. they do have a huge memorial though to the slovakian uprising and the australian told us that it was useless and there wasnt an actual uprising they only did it because they knew they were going to lose the war. Bratislava was lovely and it was very cheap for a country usuing the euro they seem to have a good nightlife but the barcrawl ran tues to sat and we stayed sun and mon!!!!
