we went to nimes through dans choice it seemed like the best stop over between france and italy. itwas so nice to be able to see our hotel when we were actually still on the train becasue it was so close! just over the road! we got there really early- france trains seem alot faster then italian ones as we had to get the slowest trains everywhere in italy. we decided to pop over to avignon as tehre was a train soon and it was only like half an hour away. i had been here before on the french exchange and it was really eally weird being back after such a long time! the heat was unbearable a sign said it was 42 degrees and to be walking ariund and seeing stuff was just silly! we saw the castle thing that the popes lived in for a while but didnt go in as i had been in years ago and it was rubbish inside even our guide book said so! and we also saw its famous half a bridge. back in nimes we went to the colouseum which seems in beter shape then the rome one and then went ot go see this roman temple thing they have there taht i saw before. however it was absolutley covered in scaffolding you couldnt even nearly see it was pissed dan off quite alot! we ate at this restaraunt that has a ealry bird special of buy one get one free pizza. however when we came to paying that didnt give us the offer- people seem to do that alot with tourists. the waitress wasnt very nice either she kept speaking in french and i could make out enough to reply back in english which she obviously understood but chose everytime back in french and then when i couldnt understand then said it again in english annoying! we asked a woman at the train place the best way and cheapest way to get to barcelona. she said we had to take and unreserved train at 4.30 in the morning to the border and then pay a reservation of €15 each to go from there to barcelona and that wasnt until 4 in the afternoon!! we hadnt been expecting such an expense it was nearly a full days budget but we obviously had to pay it. i was so happy we were next to the station because getting up at that time was horrific! only ot find when we arrived at the border that there was an unreserved train going to barcelona in about 40 mins! it made us sososososo angry!we had wasted so much money on that stupid reservation and the woman seemed so nice but she was only looking at french trains and thats why we had to pay more. even though they can look at all europes countries trains!
