I spent the majority of my last day in Sydney at the cricket. Bought my ticket online in the morning and headed down to the SCG at 2am to watch England take on Australia in a One-Day International. Great, friendly atmosphere and the place was buzzing.. as was I!!! Beaming sunshine and plenty of beers relaxing watching the cricket.. perfect. Sat with a load of Ozzies but I didn't mind as they kept me entertained with their close to the bone banter. England didn't win but was just great being there.
After the cricket I headed down to the harbour with some friends to have one last look at the impressive skyline, bridge and Opera House.
Up early on Monday morning.. 6am start on a bus up to a surf camp called Spot X. 9 and half hours on a coach is a long time but it passed by very quickly and there was plenty of room on board. Arrived at the surf camp where we had some tea and then the drinking started... drinking games and limbo followed which I came 3rd in.. didn't know I was so bendy! Made a fire on the beach which we all sat around underneath the stars.. pretty special. Never seen a sky with so many stars before. With everyone very drunk, we headed to bed.
Up early again feeling a little bit ropey we headed into the surf. The perfect cure. Mastered the standing up on the board now which I'm chuffed about but i ain't gona be no world champion as I still hate the sea!!!
Had dinner and headed up to Byron Bay on the coach which is where I am now. Here for 5 days so gona relax on the stunning beach which is right next to our hostel. Free food and drink at Cheeky Monkeys last night was a nice touch but got a relatively early night.
Got up early this morning and had a great run along the beach which has set me up nicely for Australia Day. Plenty of sun, booze and beach BBQ's is on the cards so i can't wait for that. Happy days :)
