Soooooo this is it.......
My final blog of this 'BIG Adventure' I've been on for the past several months.
I didn't manage to get much of a sleep at the hostel in Patong as one of my roommates wouldn't stop talking. Lights went out after midnight so I only got a few hours in before my alarm woke me up at 4am. I gathered my belongings, checked out the hostel and waited for my pre-booked taxi at 4.30am which arrived early.. the main thing being it arrived!!
It only took just over half an hour to get to the airport with there being no traffic on the roads so I checked in with my flight and relaxed.
My flight was fine dozing off for most of the three and a half hour journey and arrived in Bali at 11.15am local time. There was no surge of taxi drivers coming at me from all angles this time when I exited the airport.. they were all pre-occupied because it was so busy. I organised a taxi at the cab rank without a need to barter a price and went on my way to my hotel in Legian just 20 minutes away.. much closer than my previous visit here to Ubud.
Legian in Seminyak is a beach resort on the south western coast of Bali known for it's great surf and where the middle/upper classes tend to visit for holidays. The huge stretch of dark brown sand curves it's way round to the popular resort of Kuta where the majority of tourists go to visit. It's a total contrast to the 'real' Bali I experienced on my last visit when I came to Ubud.. the place is much more directed at the tourism sector with beautiful restaurants, bars and hotels lined along the beachfront.
I don't have much to report from the four days I've spent here. I haven't done any exploring.. I've just led on the beach every day soaking up the sun and relaxing.. and of course I've eaten some great food whilst I've been here too! :)
With it being my last night I treated myself to a nice meal at one of the Italian restaurants then headed down to the beach to watch the sunset.. it was a very special moment, one which I will never forget and a fitting end to an amazing journey!
I have another early start in the morning.. I will take a taxi from my hotel to the Denpasar Airport where I will catch a flight at 8.30am to Kuala Lumpur. I have a few hours wait before I board my final flight to London Stansted at 2.45pm Malaysian time.. and all being well I should arrive back in the UK at 9.45pm on Sunday.
Well....
This has been an unbelievable experience for me. I've been to some fantastic places and met some great people along the way. I've done an awful lot throughout this journey including things that I'd never imagined of doing which have taken me way out of my comfort zone. I even fought my fears on numerous occasions.. and conquered every one of them.
I didn't come away to 'find' myself like alot of people do.. I already knew who I was and the past several months have just cemented me as the person that I already am. This was me on an adventure that I've wanted to take for many years.. and I've done it!
I am completely satisfied with my whole trip and everything I have done along the way even though there are places I planned on visiting which I never got around to seeing. But now is the right time to bring my travels to an end.. I intended on returning to Australia after the summer but that is looking doubtful now as home is where the heart is and I need to get back to the most important thing in my life.. family and friends!!!!!!!! :)
I have new family members to meet and an awful lot of catching up to do.. aswell as a huge summer to look forward to. I have never been more excited about anything in my life than I am right now at the thought of seeing everyone again after being away for so long!
A new chapter in my life starts as soon as that iron bird touches down in London at 9.45pm on Sunday 24th July, 2011.
Thankyou for reading my blogs throughout the whole of my journey.. I hope you've enjoyed them as much as I've had writing them.. it's been a pleasure. And thankyou for all the comments and constant support along the way.. it means alot.
You've been awesome......... and so have I!!!!! ;)
