Graham & Jane
A wonderful SLOW day in Cannes. After all the time on the ship where we were on excursions many days early in the morning, and then having late dinners today we took things very easy to get ready for the travel tomorrow.
We had a stroll along the beach to the Cannes version of the open top bus tour, this is "Le petit train", which takes almost 1 & 1/2 hrs showing many of the sites we would not have encountered other wise, in particular the Notre-Dame church on top of the hill overlooking the whole of Cannes.
It is hard to imagine the Cannes of today being a small sleepy fishing village over a century ago, but this is exactly what it was, and through the old town there was a lot of evidence of the origins of old Cannes.
Cannes is also home to a very large artist community, and almost every day they can be seen marketing their work along the seafront, of course there are those who work on canvas, but there are also many examples of other media, particular sculptors.
Following a very relaxing day we found a nice little restaurant for dinner, not as easy as it sounds because this being France an awful lot of them were closed it being Sunday evening. It was then off to an early night ready for the long train ride (7hrs) to Barcelona.
