Jodhpur - the Blue City (though more to do with pest control than looking pretty, apparently!) and as in riding breeches (invented by the Maharaja's polo team)! A great place!
We ended up in a "Heritage Hotel". A fabulous old builing, though sadly it's plumbing is not ageing quite as well as the exterior!! We were chuffed to bits with it until we saw the 5-star hotel that used to be the Maharaja's Palace - now that's a "Heritage Hotel"!! Though VERY out of our price-range!!
We had a good couple of days here visiting the Mehrangarh Fort - a beautiful, imposing and surprisingly intact place, for it's age - maybe that's to do with the guy who volunteered to sacrifice himself, by being buried alive in the foundations in order to fight off curses against the place - of course!! We also saw there the worlds most enthusiastic and over the top audio guide distributor! Think cross between a stereotypically Indian army Major, complete with enormous 'tache and Lesley Phillips! Quite a character.
We've wandered through the markets and passed temples (we've become a bit blase about them!). We've sat in cafe's, in the sun, drinking tea and people watching - lovely!
And if you ever see it on the menu at home we can highly recommend a Jodhpuri curry - yummy!!
